Johnnie is a native of Oklahoma City, OK, where he began writing as early as elementary school. In addition to writing, he has business activities in business consulting, taxes and real estate. Over the years he has written dozens of plays, screenplays and short stories with over 75 copyrighted works. He also has several IMDB credits for writing for TV and film. He formed his first production company in 1997 to produce some of his earlier plays, including the 1998 original version of “She’s Not Our Sister”, which premiered at the Majestic Theater in Dallas, TX to critical acclaim. In 2011 “She’s Not Our Sister”was reprised to a new audience of over 4,200 patrons. Shortly afterwards the production was adapted for TV and premiered on the network to an estimated 2-3 million viewers. With the overwhelming success, he was asked to write and develop a mini-series spinoff based on the original story entitled “She’s Still Not Our Sister” starringKellita Smith(Bernie Mac Show), Jackee Harryand Clifton Powell. This was followed by stage-play adaptation of “The Love You Save” (adopted for film and released on DVD starring Robin Givens, Christopher Williams, and a guest appearance by gospel artistKierra “Kiki” Sheard). His works continue to enjoy video and television exposure around the country. He has continued to produce other stage-plays in different markets including the uplifting play “A Princess in the Ghetto”, and“If I Never See Forever”and continued writing several dozen new plays and movie scripts. He has also been a ghost writer for other aspiring producers and has taught writing classes in the Dallas area. With the formation of CK&J Film and Entertainment Enterprises, LLC, he has shifted most of his focus to film, including the soon to be released movie “A Jones’ Family Affair”. His dozens of screenplays cover different genres ranging from romantic-comedies, dramas, to thrillers. He also owns a substantial repertoire of songs and a large collection of poetry. Johnnie holds a Bachelors degree in business administration and also a Law degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He has always remained true to his real calling and passion – writing, directing and producing. At this juncture he has put all of energy fully into writing, developing and producing his works. Mr. Hooks has been a successful entrepreneur in the entertainment industry for more than 20 years and brings 16 cumulative years in the creative financing arena. Steve Hooks started his entertainment career at LD Entertainment III in 1996, where he held the position of Vice President of Operations and Marketing for the independent record label. During that time, he managed a variety of daily tasks but also wanted to align with the artists to help them in their development. As such, he worked diligently developing several artists, acquiring distribution, and expanding urban markets for the company. After a successful tenure at LD Entertainment III, Mr. Hooks decided to create a venture of his own. In 2003, he partnered with a longtime friend to create HD Entertainment LLC, a full-service entertainment and production company based in Overland Park, Kansas. Steve Hooks co-founded Nexwood Entertainment and Nexwood Films in 2008 and is now a partner at CKJ Films. He graduated with a Liberal Arts degree and a focus in Finance from Kansas City College, followed by coursework at McNeese State University. Steve is now focused on taking CKJ Films to worldwide distribution in the film and entertainment industry
